SCOTT JULIAN, SENIOR PASTOR
Scott has been the Senior Pastor at UCC for the last seven years. Scott was ordained in 1993 at Northshore Christian Church in Everett, WA., where he served as Youth Pastor and subsequently as Associate Pastor for over 7 years. In 2000, Scott joined First Christian Church of Huntington Beach as its Associate Pastor. In 2003, FCC Huntington Beach and Stadia decided to plant a new church in San Clemente. Scott was chosen to be Senior Pastor of that church, called SeaPointe Christian Church. Scott’s wife is Jenny, and their children are Micah, Kaylee, and Grace. Scott loves sports, fishing, camping, and traveling.
SCOTT HINSCHE, SERVING TEAMS / SMALL GROUPS PASTOR
spent 8 years practicing a variety of areas of civil law in Long Beach
prior to coming to UCC. He coordinates all of the church’s service
opportunities and fills in other leadership roles. One of his primary
goals at UCC is to increase the involvement of its members in service
both inside and especially outside of the blessed church walls. Scott’s
church and ministry experience include: leadership and worship team with
Wesley Methodist Student Group at the College of William and Mary in
Virginia; setup and support of the SeaPointe Christian Church plant in
San Clemente; service hosting, deacon board, and small group leadership
at First Christian Church in Huntington Beach. His service experience
includes: a variety of student government positions; Big Brothers, Big
Sisters; Legal Correspondent for Long Beach NAACP; and Board Member and
Legal Advisor for Long Beach YMCA. Scott received a B.B.A. in Accounting
from the College of William and Mary and a JD from Southwestern
University School of Law in Los Angeles. He is currently working on a
Masters in Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena. Scott loves music,
movies, running, playing volleyball, pretty much anything athletic,
reading, traveling, and people. Scott is a recent newlywed to wife, Kerry.
LONDON MCBRIDE, YOUTH PASTOR
London graduated from Bethany Christian Bible College where he majored in Systematic Biblical Studies, and Utah State University where he majored in Health and Society. As a Utah State Aggie, London played wide receiver and was the Humanitarian Award recipient for his work mentoring local youth. He spent several years touring the country with Reality Check led by Lakita Garth, performing skits and speaking to high school and college students about the importance of remaining abstinent until marriage. Prior to coming to UCC, he led the youth church, Sunday school, and youth bible study at Holy Chapel Church in Los Angeles. London is a law enforcement officer with the University of California. When he’s not catching bad guys, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Summer, and their four young sons, Nolan, Parker, Jaxon, and Mason.
KIM HAMILTON, WORSHIP DIRECTOR
is a graduate of Hope International University and has been ministering
many years leading worship at churches, schools, conferences and camps.
She has taught at the elementary and college levels, and directed
musical productions for students and church groups of all ages. Kim has
also been a featured speaker at women's conferences throughout the
state, sharing a personal testimony of the presence of God's grace and
healing power in her life. Kim is married to Dave and they have three
JAMES SIMS, YOUNG ADULTS DIRECTOR / VIDEO PRODUCTION
James attended the University of Washington, earning degrees in both Comparative Literature and Film. After graduating, James spent time in the NFL as a Running Back for the New York Giants. Tired of living out of his suitcase and wanting to keep the use of his knees, he moved to Los Angeles to work in the film industry and he eventually found UCC and began volunteering as the photo/video coordinator. He has a soft spot for UCC, as it’s where he’s matured in his walk with Christ, been baptized, married his wife, Jenna, had his twin daughters, Isabella and Gabriella, dedicated, and recently and recently added his son Michael to the group.
LAINEY THWING, DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
Lainey is a graduate from Hope International University, where she
majored in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Psychology. She has a
passion for the Lord and children and felt led to help in the children’s
department here at UCC. Lainey and her husband Ryan are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Eden. Lainey enjoys volleyball, softball,
scrapbooking, and planning.
GAIL RUHLEN, FAMILY LIFE / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
Gail is a native of Los Angeles. She graduated from San Jose Bible College with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature degree. She served as Director of Christian Education at the First Christian Church in Caldwell, Idaho, and then returned to Los Angeles where she attended Pepperdine College and earned a B.A. in Religious Education. She and her husband, John, have two grown sons, Brent and Scott, and two grandsons. Gail was an active volunteer in the local public schools and taught preschool for many years.
ZOBRA WARD, NURSERY/ PRESCHOOL COORDINATOR
Zobra has provided caring and professional supervision of our Nursery and Preschool for the past four years. A native of Los Angeles, Zobra is a graduate of EL Camino College in Torrance, with her A.A. degree in Early Childhood Education. Zobra has worked at Crossroads Learning Center in Torrance, South Bay Center School for Counseling in Manhattan Beach, and Saint Johns’ Hospital Family and Child Development Center. Currently, Zobra is completing her B.A. degree in Early Childhood Education through the California State University system. Zobra has worked in the field of child development for the past 13 years, with infant- to kindergarten-aged children. From a very young age Zobra has always had a special love for young children and is true to Matthew 19:14, “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (KJV). As a valued member of the Children’s Ministry, she continuously strives to provide an atmosphere of trust, safety, and spiritual growth for all of our children. Zobra’s hobbies include family time, cooking, fashion, and nature walks. Her husband is Donald Sr., and their two sons, Donald “DJ” and Andrew “AJ,” are active participants in UCC’s Children's Ministry.
ANNE POPE, FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR
is a native of Alabama. She and her husband, Bill, have been in
California since 1969. She graduated from California State University,
Northridge, with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. Anne has been
on the UCC staff since May 1984. The Popes have two sons, Scott and
CHRISTAL YOUNG, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Christal has always had a passion for helping others, so it’s no surprise that she is excited to support UCC as the Administrative Assistant. Before joining the team, she worked as an Intake Coordinator at a foster care agency for nearly 6 years. A native of Los Angeles, Christal attended the University of Southern California where she received her B.A. degree in American Studies and Ethnicity. She also recently completed her Masters in Library Science from the University of North Texas in August 2013. Christal is a joyful and willing servant and has her hand (and voice) in numerous elements of the church. She sings on the worship team, serves on the Missions Committee, and helped launch the Fellowship of Christian Adult Singles (FOCAS) ministry.
